Type 2 · The Giver and Type 9 · The Peacemaker. No two types are right or wrong to work together. This page shows how you may meet in ten everyday moments at work, with one thing to try in each. Use it to agree how you work, not to judge each other.
Every person is different. Read these as tendencies to talk about, not as facts about anyone.
Each line runs between two ways of working. The numbers show where each type often sits. Neither end is better.
An easy working fit. Watch for the blind spots you share.
Start here: Talk about these first. This is where the two of you are furthest apart: meetings.
Try this: You plan in a similar way. Every few weeks, check the plan still fits what is actually happening.
Try this: Share the agenda early. Let the quieter one go first or reply in writing after; give the other a slot to think out loud.
Try this: Set the real deadline plus one check-in halfway.
Try this: You decide at a similar speed. Before a big call, ask one person outside the two of you what you might be missing.
Try this: You see risk the same way. For big calls, ask someone with a different view to check.
Try this: Your styles match. Keep it regular, and say what's working, not only what to fix.
Try this: You take feedback in a similar way. Keep it two-way, ask for it as well as give it.
Try this: Thank them the way they like to be thanked, not the way you do.
Try this: When it gets busy, say what you need, more space, or more check-ins.
Try this: You handle disagreement alike. Watch the shared blind spot: if you both avoid it, book a time; if you both push, pause first.

Open in the X-MapTake the free testNo pair is right or wrong to work together. In the ten moments above, a Type 2 and a Type 9 are in sync in 6 moments, meet halfway in 3 moments and are marked “take care” in 1 moment. That shows you what to agree on first, not how well you will work together.
A Type 2 is often energised by helping people do well, in a warm team. A Type 9 is often energised by a calm team and a steady rhythm.
The biggest gap is often in meetings. Agree together how you'll handle it, using the “Try this” line.
You can pick the type you think fits them in the X-Map for Work and treat it as a guess. Better still, invite them to take the free work test (5–8 minutes) and talk about it together.
A type is a mirror, not a label. It shows how someone tends to love, work or train, never who they have to be.
