Fitness · The nine types
Type 1 · The Reformer and exercise
What may move a Type 1 to train, what can make them stop and how they like to be coached. Read it for yourself, or to coach someone their way. It’s a starting point, not a label.
At a glance
- Moved by
- Doing it properly, and getting a little better each week.
- Keeps coming back when
- The class is well run and the effort is noticed.
- May stop when
- It feels sloppy, or they can’t get it right.
If you are a Type 1
- When you train, you may
- train with care and discipline, doing it properly matters to you.
- Classes you may enjoy
- Reformer Pilates, technique-led strength, any class with a clear structure.
- Under stress, you may
- push harder on yourself and get critical when it isn't perfect.
- One step to try
- Let some sessions be just for enjoyment. Good enough today still counts.
If you coach a Type 1
- They may tell you
- “When something's not right, just tell me clearly and tell me why. I really want to get it right. And when I do something well, please tell me that too.”
Look at the ten moments below. Where a Type 1 sits shows you how hard to push, how to correct form and how to welcome them back after a missed week.
