Type 2 · The Giver and Type 9 · The Peacemaker, as trainer and member, either way round. No two types are right or wrong to train together. This page shows how you may meet in ten training moments, with one thing to try in each.
Every person is different. Read these as tendencies to talk about, not as facts about anyone.
Each line runs between two ways of training. The numbers show where each type often sits. Neither end is better. Where you sit far apart, the trainer adjusts first.
An easy fit. Watch for the blind spots you share.
Start here: No big gaps. Start with the “meet halfway” moments below.
Try this: You train for similar reasons, so motivating them comes naturally. Still ask, once, what would make it worth it for them.
Try this: You set goals the same way. Ask now and then what they might be missing.
Try this: You like the same setting. Easy to plan, just keep their favourite format available.
Try this: You like the same mix of routine and variety. Check now and then that it isn't getting stale.
Try this: You agree on how much to explain. Easy, just check they really understood.
Try this: You talk the same amount. Enjoy it, and keep the session moving.
Try this: Your natural intensity isn't theirs. Use a 1–10 scale and let them choose today's number.
Try this: You correct the way they like to hear it. Keep it up, and still name what they did well.
Try this: You see progress the same way. Add the other kind now and then, it makes progress feel fuller.
Try this: Reach out their way: a quick “see you Tuesday” for some, a warm, no-blame message for others.

Open in the X-MapTake the free testNo pair is right or wrong to train together. In the ten moments above, a Type 2 and a Type 9 are naturally in sync in 8 moments and meet halfway in 2 moments. That shows the trainer where to adjust first.
A Type 2 often keeps coming back when someone notices them and is glad they came. A Type 9 often keeps coming back when it feels easy and free of pressure.
There are no big gaps. Start with the moments marked “meet halfway”: intensity and after a missed week.
Share it with your trainer and point to the one or two moments that matter most to you. Small changes, agreed early, make your sessions easier to keep up.
A type is a mirror, not a label. It shows how someone tends to love, work or train, never who they have to be.
